Windows 10 1703 is approved for use

The Bureau Windows Technical Support Team (BWTST) is pleased to announce the approval of Microsoft Windows 10 1703 for use as the new standard Windows OS for USGS. The USGS will only support the 1703 and 1607 Semi-Annual Channel (SAC) of Windows 10. With Microsoft support of 1607 ending in March 2018, USGS is requesting that sites update to 1703 by Jan 31, 2018. BWTST only supports two versions of Windows 10 in the environment and expects to start supporting 1709 by February 2018. Updates will occur two times a year moving forward.

Do not update to 1709 until an approval memo is released: In October 2017, Windows 10 1709 became available; however the USGS is not currently at a McAfee version that supports 1709. The USGS will be updating systems to a version of McAfee that supports 1709 in the December ePatching cycle. Windows 10 1709 upgrade guidance will be released after DOI approval and BWTST testing.
