Standards OpenType Fonts
These fonts, along with the Visual Identity System fonts, are used by Science Publishing Network (SPN) staff to prepare final publication files for USGS series information products and are required for proper functionality of several SPN map templates developed for author use—-the Adobe Illustrator map templates, MS Word map manuscript templates, and MS Word map pamphlet templates for USGS Open-File Reports.
USGS Visual Identity System (VIS) Fonts
Times New Roman and Univers Condensed are the current Visual Identity System (VIS) fonts. Times New Roman (a TrueType font) is automatically installed with both the Microsoft Windows and Macintosh OS X operating systems. The OpenType version of Univers Condensed is now available for download through installation drop down box and is compatible with Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and OS X.
