On July 19, 2017, Apple released security update 10.12.6 to macOS Sierra. This security update includes improved stability, compatibility, and security to the macOS operating system and is recommended for all users to apply. Connect to Server affecting macOS 10.12.5
A known issue was introduced with macOS Sierra Update 10.12.5. After the update, many Mac users found that they could no longer connect to file shares using the Connect to Server feature in Finder. macOS Sierra Update 10.12.6 fixes this issue. Once you have successfully update to 10.12.6 you may resume the recommended connection method to file shares.
Example – smb://gs.doi.net /sharename
It is recommended to perform a Time Machine backup of your system before applying the update.
