IEM Keyfile Installation Deadline
December 5, 2014
From Athow email Nov 4, 2014:
In an effort to assist sites in populating the USGS keyfile for IEM a GPO will be linked at the top regional levels in AD. This GPO (DI – IEM Key File – USGS” will place a “usgs.txt” file into the IEM installation directory for Windows systems. The eComputing team has also created several other GPOs for your use in placing the additional required keyfiles for IEM by the Dec 5th deadline. These include the Regional keyfile as well as your Site keyfile.IEM:We are asking all sites to implement the use of keyfiles by Dec 5th. This includes the USGS, Regional, A&A System, Site and Asset (if applicable) keyfiles. A listing of assigned keyfiles can be found at IEM Master Keyfile.Along with the GPOs mentioned above there is also a Fixlet in IEM that can be used to place the appropriate keyfile. The fixlet is in testing but it has performed as expected in all testing done so far. The fixlet is called: “TEST-DOI: Create and Deploy key File – TEST”. The fixlet will prompt you for the filename to use. Do not add the .txt at the end of the filename as the fixlet will automatically append the .txt file extension. If you need any assistance in deploying this fixlet to your system please open a ticket with the Service Desk for the IEM queue. Webex demonstrations of implementing the keyfiles are being scheduled and will be announced via email. We are also asking all sites to ensure ALL subnets are included and documented in the IEM Relay portal. If your subnet information is missing or needs to be corrected please contact the Service Desk, servicedesk@usgs.gov, for escalation to the IEM queue.Thank you,Brenda AthoweComputing Change Manager
