License Errors Connecting to the Bigfix Console Server
The error that may occur is “remote session has been disconnected because there are no remote desktop client access licenses available for this computer. Please contact the server administrator.” DOI says this is due to a client-side license mismatch issue.
To resolve the issue, DOI recommends the following steps:
- Log into your workstation with admin privileges.
- Open Regedit and find the registry key folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\MSLicensing
- Make a backup of the registry key by selecting it and going to File -> Export and save it to your desktop.
- Delete the entire registry key folder MSLicensing.
- Search for MSTSC.exe (RDP application) and right-click on MSTSC.exe and run it as administrator to rebuild your MSLicensing registry key folder. The application location is like under “C:\Windows\System32”. Alternatively, you can run Remote Desktop with Right-Click – Run As Administrator.
- Test connecting to the IEM/Bigfix console server (iem-ts1.doi.net) and if it works, log out and back in with your regular account.
