Issue
There have been a few instances reported in which Windows immediately signs a user out after logging in. The user is never able to successfully sign in to the Desktop.
How To Diagnose
Log on as a user with Administrative access. Check the Event Log: Custom Views, Administrative Events, Event ID 4006
Example: The Windows logon process has failed to spawn a user application. Application name: . Command line parameters: C:\Program Files (x86)\RES Software\Workspace Manager\pwrinit.exe.
How To Fix
Open the Registry as an Administrator.
Key to modify: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Per the example above, remove this entry: C:\Program Files (x86)\RES Software\Workspace Manager\pwrinit.exe
The user should now be able to login.
