DOI Power Management Plan

In order to comply with Executive Orders 13423 and 13514 as well as DOI Power Reduction Program objectives which require bureaus to reduce the overall power consumption for workstations and laptops, the USGS will be implementing a power plan on all non-server clients beginning June 15, 2015.  A set of power schemes will be applied, by the eComputing team, to all systems through a GPO at the top level of the USGS EAD environment.
The Power Plan is designed to be as unobtrusive as possible.  It is critical that this requirement does not impact the completion of the bureau’s mission or impede day-to-day workflow.   The GPO will apply an initial Power Management Plan called “DOI Standard Power Plan” and also offer an alternative power plan called “DOI Specialized Equipment Plan”.   These power plans represent a baseline power policy.  Local Sites that require additional power settings on systems will be able to create and use their own Power management settings if the mission of their site requires an alternative plan.
