Recently we have noticed that the Address Book look-up tool (AKA People Picker) no longer works within Webforms for users running Chrome and Safari.
Google has removed a feature ,the showModalDialog property, from Chrome v37 and above. SharePoint’s People Picker relies on this to work properly. This is likely the case in Safari as well.
There are a few things you can do to get around this issue:
Windows Users
- Use Internet Explorer. The Address Book Lookup works fine in Internet Explorer
- Use the IE Tab in Chrome (this uses the IE engine within the Chrome browser) – See http://tst.usgs.gov/applications/collaboration/bison-connect/#howto and look under IE Compatabilty in BisonConnect
OS X Users
- The latest version of Firefox seems to work with Address Book Lookup
