Windows Server 2022: Known Issues

This page lists known issues relating to Windows Server 2022 and associated fixes and workarounds.

Server Will Not Rejoin Domain

If you attempt to rejoin a server that was previously joined to AD, the process may fail due to domain join hardening changes introduced with the Microsoft KB5020276 patch.

Follow these steps on the EUS Ops page to resolve the issue.

Renaming DFS Servers

When renaming a server that is part of a DFS namespace the server must first be removed from the DFS collection. Once the server has been renamed and restarted, add it back into the collection. Namespace and replication should then be tested to ensure it is working before repeating the process for the next server.

If all servers are renamed without an existing server working, the namespace will be lost and will need to be recreated which will lose all existing shortcuts.

This guidance applies to all versions of Windows Server.
