Microsoft Outlook client corrupted after Windows 10 1909 Upgrade

A few sites have reported an issue that after running the Windows 10 1909 feature update, a user’s Microsoft Outlook desktop client is no longer able to connect to the Exchange server, rendering their outlook profile unusable.

The error may look like this:

In order to correct this issue, the following registry change must be made as the user:

Navigate to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity

  • Add DWORD “DisableADALatopWAMOverride”
  • Set value of “DisableADALatopWAMOverride” to “1”

The registry change has been captured in the following file:

disableadalatopwamoverride.reg

Have the user download the file and run it locally.

The system should be rebooted before attempting to launch Outlook again.
