The USAccess Mobile Credentialing Unit (MCU) v2.3.0 and Light Activation (LA) v5.3.0 installers have been posted on the LA Kit page. These installers are MANDATORY updates once Release 18 moves to Production the weekend of June 20, 2020.
Besides updates to BioAdapter, BioConfigure, and PCA software, these installers include a new Assured Identity Print Service certificate, as the Print Service certificate included with previous installers will expire on August 10th, 2020. This certificate is necessary for the function of the PCA application and Local Print functionality. Please ensure that the updated certificate is imported on both MCU and LA stations after the installer exe application has been run.
Most activation and enrollment functionality for both the new MCU and LA installers will work in the current infrastructure, so sites are encouraged to download and test on their workstations prior to Release 18.0.
However, please note that the updated PCA applications will not work until Release 18.0 has been implemented on the weekend of June 20-21, 2020. The Activation icon should be used for any activation activities until Release 18.0 is implemented. Furthermore, any station that has not been updated with the latest software and new Print Service certificate after August 10, 2020, will lose PCA functionality as well.
The updated installers also include a new version of the Network Test Tool, which will have limited functionality if updated prior to Release 18.0. The activation network tests should work in the updated tool, but the local print tests may not function correctly prior to release implementation.
With the implementation of Release 18.0, manual optimization of the applicant photo will be possible in Web Enrollment. In the current version of the application, prior to the installation of the new MCU Installer and back-end changes to be made during Release 18.0, the photo capture software searches for and detects the applicant’s eyes to center and crop the raw image into an acceptable credential photo. This upgrade in the new Release will allow the Registrar to manually optimize the photo as well. Manual optimization will be allowed if the initial attempt to auto-optimize was not successful. This update to the photo capture software will also require some adjustment to the physical camera settings. If the latest MCU version is not installed after Release 18.0 has been implemented, the Optimize Manually button will still appear during Web Enrollment, but will result in an error if selected.
Finally, this is just a reminder that Java is no longer required for activation activities and can be uninstalled from all LA and MCU systems.
