USGS Global Firewall Change Project FAQs

Currently the USGS maintains firewall configurations at the boundaries between USGS local-area networks (LANs) and the networks of our sister agencies and offices in the Department of the Interior (DOI). This is changing.   To promote greater collaboration and sharing of tools and services among DOI offices and agencies our USGS firewall rules will be relaxed accordingly.

Starting on May 15, 2019, USGS Telecommunications Services will begin applying new firewall rule sets to all USGS-managed firewalls.

The purpose of this page is to offer information, status updates, and guidance related to the USGS Global Firewall Change Project.
